What are t pins used for? I asked this question to my wife and she basically said a t pins use is typically in upholstery and tailoring to hold fabric in place before it is sewn.
She does a lot of work making drapes and upholstering chairs and uses t-pins for those applications. Well, believe it or not, t-pins also are great hanging pins or pins to hang pictures on a cubicle wall!
If you’re interested in how to use t pins as versatile cubicle hangers, this article is for you.
T Pins for Cubicle Walls are Versatile Hanging Pins
T-pins for hanging pictures is essentially something I stumbled upon when I saw my wife using them recently. I thought to myself, “These would work great as push pins for hanging pictures in my cubicle at work!” In fact, I oftentimes call them cubicle pins.
They hold securely into the fabric cubicle wall (especially if you tilt them slightly) and, as a result, you can hang almost any picture frame, even one with some weight to it.
As you can see in the images below, I use t-pins for hanging pictures that I have picked up from my travels. They also work well to hang even a fairly heavy poster if you follow the steps I show in the YouTube video further down in this article.
T-pins, as you can see here, have a very specific design. They look, as you imagine, like the letter T which makes it perfect for holding up a poster on a cubicle wall.
You can use as many of them as you want at the bottom of the poster or picture frame, around the sides and at the top. The top portion of the T secures the hung items locking them in place.
It’s really quite cool as you’ll see in the video!

Here’s a quick YouTube video of me hanging a calendar, sign, and a poster in my office:
Use Cubicle Pins for Hanging Office Wallpaper
If you want to create your own backsplash in your office, t push pins would work great to hold up your fabric. Some people use peel-and-stick wall coverings for their cubicle but with t-pins you can simply use any fabric that you like and secure them with the t pins.
I picked up a box of 100 Gem 1.5 Inch T-Pins for less than $5 and I’m pretty sure I’ll never go through all of them. I keep them in a drawer next to my desk and can use them to basically hang anything.
Using Gem T Pins to Hang a Cubicle Picture Frame
The picture in the image below I picked up in Amsterdam when I visited the Netherlands many years ago. You don’t have to limit yourself to picture frames. You could hang a sign, a clipboard, a calendar, a poster, or any type of wall hanging you would have in your home.
Summary of Using T Pins for Cubicle Walls
I hope this tip helped you learn how to use t pins in a cubicle. So, if you are looking for a great solution for hanging anything on a cubicle wall, a box of T-Pins should probably last you a work lifetime!
They are awesome for hanging pins. I use them as push pins for hanging pictures and small posters as you have seen above. You could even call them t push pins if you like! A t pins use is pretty dynamic I would say.
They will also give you the option of hanging up some fabric to cover up those drab and ugly grey walls. If you don’t like them (which I highly doubt), you can always use them for your new drapes or give them to your wife. 🙂
